New Joyce Manor Album “Never Hungover Again” Out Now

Joyce Manor's new album Never Hungover Again is out today on Epitaph. The critics have spoken:

“The optimal balance of maturity and immaturity is right there in the title, so throw on Never Hungover Again when you’re still looking to get into dumb shit, but you just want to be smarter about it.” - Pitchfork

“California's Joyce Manor drop pearls of pop-punk wisdom: songs that are rich in melody, short in length, and colored with a gentle-hearted loneliness.” - Spin

‘With albums shorter than it takes to watch an episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast; the punk band can pack an emotional wallop with as much as a yelp.” - NPR

“The world needs this album now.” - Grantland

Joyce Manor plays a record release show at Rough Trade in Brooklyn, NY TODAY and will follow that with hometown shows on Thursday July 24 at Amoeba Records (Hollywood) and a SOLD OUT show at The El Rey in Los Angeles, CA on Friday July 25 with support from Tony Molina and Winter Break. To get into today’s record release show in Brooklyn, NY at Rough Trade you must purchase the new album at the store. Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm show.

Never Hungover Again was recorded with friend and producer Joe Reinhardt in Hollywood's Lair studio and mixed by Tony Hoffer who is known for his work with Supergrass, Belle and Sebastian, M83 and Phoenix. If there’s a feeling to Never Hungover Again, says Barry, it’s a feeling he can’t quite pin down—some complex thing that’s part anger and part sadness. It's the loneliness when you’re surrounded by people and that lostness when everything you’ve wanted seems to be right in front of you. And if there’s a single moment that defines Never Hungover Again, it’s the way “The Jerk” ends with feedback and a chord ringing over Barry’s last shout of “It all goes wrong!”—because despite the confusion and sorrow and resignation, it somehow sounds so right.

Joyce Manor will play FYF Fest on Saturday, August 23 in addition to a short run with Brand New. Then the band will embark on their first ever North American headlining tour in support of Never Hungover Again.

Old Man Markley premiere Train Of Thought Video!

Old Man Markley is taking a well-deserved break after touring nearly non-stop following the release of last year’s sophomore album, Down Side Up. While on their travels, they stopped at the infamous annual Punk Rock Bowling festival in Las Vegas and filmed a video for “Train of Thought.” A contemplative song whose sentiment really captures the life of a road worn and weary touring band, you can watch the video at Vice/Noisey right now. Make sure to follow Old Man Markley on Instagram and Twitter as they’ll be keeping everyone updated on what they have in store for 2015! Read what Old Man Markley had to say about their video below:

The song “Train of Thought” seemed appropriate to film at PRB… With so many activities to pull you in any direction – bowling, shows, pool parties and things we shouldn’t mention here. In this video we captured anyone that crossed our “trains” path and included them in the filming! This song was written by Joey Garibaldi and Todd Fenton, who aptly describes the song: “Control is an illusion, except when you’re out of it. Same could be said for perception. The mistakes of the past and pressures from the future are what make us the same, not different.” We hope the video reflects the chaos and serendipitous nature of crossing paths with people and being open to the experiences that follow such interactions.
