She’s got a warm, sexy Brazilian voice that charms you from the first note. With jazzy, funky, sexy, soulful electro-pop, CéU comes along and makes you re-think the entire genre. With a hot crew of musicians behind her, sounds and tones fly free in an intermix of tropical delight. (yes, I’m laying it on thick). Her new self titled debut is due out April 3rd. Really, the rhythms and bass are tight yet flowing, and she’s the sweet syrup swimming on top. Her full name is Maria do Céu Whitaker Poças, Continue reading »

Dubbed “The African Sting,” Richard Bona expands his wings and soars with his fourth solo album and Decca debut Tiki- showing he is a true “triple threat” in the music world. The bassist-vocalist-composer maintains his universal appeal by using a crossbreed effect on his new album by combining African influences (afro-beat and traditional song) with Latin rhythms, jazz, bossa nova, pop and funk. A complete artist in his own right, Richard Bona is a member of a very small circle of the “world’s best bass players.” With his new album, the multi-instrumentalist not only shows off his masterful bass playing and rich vocals; but, he also takes his hand on the guitar, keyboards and percussion. Adding to the already amazing album, multiple Grammy-winner John Legend appears on “Please Don’t Stop.” Tiki will be in stores August 22nd on Decca.
A decade ago, the venerable Lama Jamyang Tashi Dorje founded Sakya Tashi Ling, the first and foremost Buddhist monastery in Catalonia, Spain. Over the past ten years, the Sakya Tashi Ling Monastery has become a place that many people visit in hopes of finding a cure for their physical, mental and spiritual ills, and where many begin an apprenticeship that will enable them to become happier and able to contribute to the happiness of others. During the course of their teaching, the monks of Sakya Tashi Ling decided to record an album of mantras and rituals to bring their message of peace and love to the masses through the universal language of music. My Spirit Flies To You will be released in the U.S. August 29th on Decca Records.
